Reasons why Magical Me works – what the experts say
We thought it was time we gave you all some more information which shows why our programme will be Sooooo good!

1. Teaching kids control over their thoughts, feelings and behaviours will result in happier more successful children and adults. (Karen Reivich and Jane Gillham). Magical Me teaches young children that thoughts and feelings determine behaviour and that they can consciously choose their thoughts and in so doing have more control over how they feel and what they do.
2. Happier children are healthier mentally and physically and do better in school. Emotional intelligence is a core set of skills, grounded in science that underlies performance. (David Goleman) Magical Me provides opportunites for children to practice their learning and in so doing to develop practical skills and habits which translate to their daily lives. By integrating these skills at a young age children will repa the benefits in every part of their lives including their academic performance.
3. Up to 42% of the ‘equation for happiness’ includes all aspects of your life you have control over especially your thoughts and actions. – how you choose to think about and act on the past, present and future. (Martin Seligman) Magical Me will help children max out their potential to achieve happiness.
4. Helping children develop strategies to increase their positive thoughts and instil optimism can prevent them from struggling with various problems such as anxiety and depression.( Seligman, Reivich and Gillman) Whilst the creators of Magical Me understand that it is neithre possible nor desireable to try to eliminate negative thoughts and feelings, the programme promotes the value of a positive balance of positive thoughts and feelings.
5. Increasing the daily diet of positive emotions results in improved relationships and closer connections with others (Prof Barbara Fredickson) Magical Me recognizes the importance of the child parent relationship and actively promotes communication between child and parent though parental prompts and off line tasks.
6. The years of 5-7yrs is an important stage in the development of the brain. At this age the brain is still growing. Intervening while the brain is still growing may be more effective than waiting til it is fully developed. (Robert Fisher) Magical Me in targeting this age group when they are starting or settling in to school recognises that the early years of the formal school system is a crucial time to introduce positive emotional learning as foundational and protective.
7. Kindness is good for your health – positive states of kindness, compassion and gratitude can have a dramatic impact on health and wellbeing ( David Hamilton). Magical Me teaches children everyday day strategies to practice gratitude and compassion. The good news is that the learning in Magical Me applies every bit as much to adults as well as children so parents and chikldren can learn together.

All About Magical Me!

Magical Minds Ltd is a Company committed to the development of digital media products which teach children powerful and essential skills to help them engage in their world in a positive and powerful way long term.

Our first product Magical Me, aimed at 5 -7 year olds, will teach the basic principles underlying Positive Psychology in a fun and engaging way. There is a wealth of research which supports the value of teaching these principles at an early age

Children will learn how to recognise and name feelings. They will gain an understanding of the link between thoughts and feelings and how thoughts through feelings dictate how you react to a situation and ultimately impact the outcome of a situation.

Ultimately children start to learn that they get to choose how they feel about and react to a situation and that in choosing to react in a particular way they have control on the outcome.

This programme aims to lay the foundations of developing resilience, empowerment, confidence and taking responsibility – in a very positive way.

To support this learning, further products will be developed age appropriately to support the child to early adulthood.

We are excited about the development of these novel programmes and we are confident that parents and children will enjoy them in equal measure.
